I'm a real pilot and X-Plane is not better than FSX which I use all the time. I have both and I find X-Plane a joke.

I've got both FSX and X-Plane 9 and I would say just the opposite. FSX crashes and freezes all the time (on a 3GHz machine with good video card) yet X-Plane not only looks better on my quad core iMac but is also more reliable. The oil rigs, the carrier, the water all look better and the flight model leaves FSX for dead. I have also flown some real aircraft (citabria, Cessna 152 & 172, P28s and a Boeing Stearman. and the X-Plane equivalents are much more real.

There are some good and bad things in your article. However, i don't see why MS wouldn't just release the game that will be ability to play as an arcade and as a simulation (lots of customization options and tweaks). That way, they would "grab" both target groups - casual gamers and sim enthusiasts. Let's hope that happens but that they make sure realism settings at least match FSX if not surpass it.
As for your X - plane remark, i gotta ask you: have you ever tried X-plane 9? That piece of garbage is anything but realistic and i simply can't understand people who can ever say it's even on par, let alone better than FSX.

Cheers
