I guess it's a question of taste. I personally like compact paragraphs, and I felt that the addition of bullets/bold fonts was enough to give this post the typographic structure it needed. I never actually use Thunderbird, I always open my GMail using Firefox and I love it. By the way, perhaps you should put an empty line between paragraphs / bullets on the post.
