Headlines: Spiral of doom edition

Headlines: Spiral of doom edition

Hello everyone, here is another weekly headlines roundup. The last 7 days were interesting, so interesting that I told myself on numerous times, that “darn, we’re living in the future”!

The world panicked as a giant spiral appeared in Norway’s skies. Of course, the reasonable explanation would involve some sort of Alien induced vortex black hole triggered by an experiment at the LHC. Nope, the spiral can be explained by a “normal” phenomenon: A Russian missile test went wrong.

Moving on to “real” space news: The expedition 21 to the ISS ended with the return of 3 astronauts to earth, leaving 2 crewmates in orbit. It has been a while since the station housed less than 3 astronauts. Can you imagine having the space of the almost finished ISS to float around?

The scandal of the week is certainly the iPhone rating scam: the 1000 apps of Chinese developer “Molinker” were removed by Apple earlier this week. These apps were low quality rip-off copies of original apps on the store, and Apple got suspicious when they noticed that the apps exclusively earned positive reviews, and that the reviewers did not rate other developers.

Apple pruchased Lala, a music service, but no one really knows why. Everyone, however, seems to have a theory. Oh, and for all the Apple fanboys out there: No, we will not talk about Apple tablet rumors. Seriously, do we know if this thing even exists?

Finally, Facebook revamped its privacy settings, much to the expense of the social network’s CEO. If you want to try to understand how the new settings even work, have a look here.

Did we miss something? Yes we did: The VSS Enterprise. But don’t worry, we have a dedicated article coming up.
